Podcasts? What is that good for?

Today we’ll tell you about Podcasts.

First we have what a podcast is.

A podcast can be an episodic series of media files a user can download to the user’s device. It is most commonly an audio file that users listen to. Sometimes people make podcast, where it is determined that it is a podcast. The show they are making is not for the radio or any other thing, it is only to listen to as a podcast. Sometimes radio shows will be available for download after a show so you have to possibility to listen to something later. Other times YouTube show or other show (videos) become podcast (only audio) too. 

Now to how to make one.

Before doing any recording a Topic should be set. What is the podcast about? Is it interview is it just story telling? What is the demands of the podcast (the demands should be set by the teacher)? Depending on the main topic in the class. It can vary in what method used in the podcast (interview, storytelling etc.)

When a topic is found a length could be set, so it’s not really long or really short.

It’s time for the pupils to make a guide/script.

If it is a interview an interview guide should be made, with the questions and maybe the answers, if they are not asking complete strangers.

If it a story a script is made, so they know what to say and when to say it.

Then they are ready to record.

For audio recording we use the recording device on our phones, iPads have them too and computers, so it is easy to find different ways of recording.  

When recording it’s important to know where to record depending on what you need to use it for. The best advice we will give you is to record in a quiet room. The room should be to big, since it can create echo when speaking.  

When the sounds recording is done. It’s time for editing. We don’t know many programs you can use for editing sound only, there are probably many, but a free one we know, that can be downloaded for pc and mac is called Audacity. It is a free and really easy program to use. You can but in your recording and cut in it, if the students are laughing or someone interrupted their recording they will be able to cut it out. It is also possible to put background music or sound effects on the recording. They can get free music on freemusic.org. The music, they might choose from freemusic.org, can also be edited in the program. After everything is done and the students or you are satisfied witch what they came up with, they just need to export it as a mp3 file and the rest of the class is ready to listen for what other students came up with.
